Passions of Fall
What a bizarre fall, kind of reminds of the 1998 Vikings, so full of promise, so ready to go all the way. Wait a minute we live in Minnesota we should know better by now. Our waterfowl season was the same way, so full of promise so ready to be a better season than last. Started out great, cool October, birds moving, I really thought it was going to be a season of legend. Wait a minute we live in Minnesota, I should know that the first weekend of November would be pushing the 70’s . I should have known that the rest of the month would be warm, and the crops still in the fields and the birds would stop moving. Then we got a little bit of cold around Thanksgiving and maybe all was not lost. It was a lot like taking a knee with 38 seconds left and loosing in overtime. I sure hope our football season doesn’t end like the waterfowl season did. Do I really feel disappointment in these things, do I really feel let down, or has it just become a way of life in Minnesota. NO!! We will win a Super Bowl and the skies will be filled with birds again someday. Optimism is the only thing that will keep the passion burning, well that and being a member of the Minnesota Duck and Goose Callers Association. The group that keeps waterfowling alive 12 months out of the year, the group that is always there to share their passion for this great sport. I just wish there was something we could do for our football team.
The MNDGCA is committed in helping educate the public in the art and science of waterfowl hunting. Please feel free to join us at one of our contests, seminars or monthly meetings.
